AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Potato, Onion prices in Tripura markets have gone beyond control but on being asked by media, SDM Sadar could not give any valid answer and no clear reply on increasing potato prices has received from him. Businessmen said that imports have been downed heavily, which is causing high commodity prices in Tripura markets. He said that the prices are labeled by quality and how old the items are, but he requested the businessmen to maintain the valid prices. Although administration often raids the markets, but the reality is far from the display of action. Tripura is the only state, where during COVID-19 crisis vehicle unions have doubled fares, whereas in West Bengal like states, the bus drivers are selling vegetables as the Govt remained strict against fare hikes and loss-excuses.
Talking to few customers in Gol Bazar market, they said, there is zero control in markets.
