Sweet shops have to mention 'Best Before' date in every sweet items: Food Safety Department

AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Tripura Food Safety Department circulates a notice on 1st October which mentioned that from now on every sweet shop of the State has to mention "Best Before" date infront of sweet items. The action is taken in order to maintain the quality of food items for the people.
While addressing Media, Food Safety Commissioner Anuradha Majumder said, "We see that some shops sell sweets which was made 3-4 days ago. To serve the proper and safe food to the people we have decided to put best before date in every loose sweet items. They also can use the manufactureing date but that is optional. But mentioning the best before date is mandatory."
The order will come on force from today onwards.
