AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): Criminal activities, domestic violance are increasing on an alarming note in Tripura amid lockdown. A person was arrested by Teliamura police for continuous physical and mental torture on his wife.

Reportedly, Teliamura's renowned businessman Haradhan Das's son Abhijit Das, resident of Gauranga Tilla tortures his wife on regular basis. They got married around 9 years ago and after few days he allegedly started mentally and physically assaulting his wife. In fear of loosing their respect in society, his wife kept quiet all these years and was tolerating his regular tortures. She mentioned that before also he had broken her wrist.

On Friday night, crossing all the limits he tried to murder his wife by setting her on fire. She somehow escaped from their and came to her mother's rented house. But there also, the accused allegedly being drunken attacked on them, including the house owner.

An FIR has been lodged in Teliamura PS. Police immediately arrested him and took him to hospital for medical checkup. Police took a case on it and started investigation.
