AGARTALA, Nov 28 (TIWN): With several close associates of Tripura CM getting exposed in involvement of multiple scams, the opposition parties wondering if a beleaguered Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would resign to save himself from ignominy. Manik Sarkar is known as a most "micro managing Chief Minister" in Tripura's history, so it can be assumed that he was aware of all these major scams by CMs close associates.
Addressing a party gathering here recently, leader of opposition Sudip Roy Barman urged party activists to capitalize the situation when the CPIM is on backfoot.
"The CPIM and Manik Sarkar is struggling to cope with the involvement of its leaders in the multiple scams. " he said taking a jibe on Manik Sarkar and CPIM.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's close aide and family friend BDO Bimal Chakraborty is currently behind bars for his alleged complicity in the Rs. 50 crore MGNREGA scam.
Chief Minister's another close man, Debananda Dam, owner of tainted Gyan Bichitra Publication involved in Book Scams regarding CM and Chief Secretary S.K.Panda's book publishing by misusing Central Govts' RMSA funds.
Trinamul Congress and main opposition Congress Party filed PIL in Tripura High Court demanding CBI investigation but Manik led Govt is trying their best to skirt CBI investigation.
