KAMALPUR, Nov 24 (TIWN): Kamalpur Science and Rationalist Association organized a rational discussion at the house of long discriminated family of Sajal Das. SDM Raval Hemendra Kumar, IAS; SDPO Kamalpur Uttam Banik; Secretary of Kamalpur Press Club Supriyo Datta; Vice chairperson Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Birendra Pal and others were present. All advocated for secularism and discussed how discrimination based on religion should not be tolerated.

The villagers took part in the program actively.

It is noteworthy that, almost three years back Sajal Das of Uria Basti under Noagaon Panchayat married Jayrun Bibi of Ganganagar. After one year’s hiding due to Hindu-Muslim marriage, Sajal’s mother embraced the couple in her house. But some locale people continued their effort to separate the couple on the basis of religion. Meanwhile, Jayrun changed her name to Jaya Das.

Recently, the Science and Rationalist Association initiated in the matter to restore harmony in the area. This effort resulted in today’s discussion. After discussion a feast was also arranged.
