AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Although, this time, the heavy ship could not come via Gomati river but Chief Minister Biplab Deb has said that soon cement will be imported from Bangladesh via river Gomati but using barges.CM was addressing Purvaudaya NGO’s ‘HEART OF HUMANITY’ philanthropic initiative inauguration programme when said so.
This time he has not given any date but said, various routes will be used for exports-imports.
This water-ways issue turned controversial as from 2018, CM’s repeatedly gave deadline for the project but was delaying and the criticism was based on the “timeline” given by CM.
Amid all such controversies, today, commodities arrived in Tripura by transit cargo, followed by boarding of them in Chottogram port.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that it is a historical event.
But, now it seems, instead of actual works political egos have become more important for the State Govt forcing it to take all visionless projects in hands.
Point is, if for few times, small ships / barge / ships can arrive via Gomati river, how far it will be continued in the long-run ? Is it really for development based on practical ground or just for ego satisfaction of the CM ?
