AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Govt of Tripura has observed Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukharjee’s birth anniversary in Rabindra Bhawan on Monday.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

CM has paid tribute to the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, said, Shyama Prasad Mukharjee had sacrificed his life in battle of Kashmir's rights and was intrigued by the then Govt later.

Syama Prasad Mukherjee was an Indian politician, barrister and academician, who served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. After falling out with Nehru, protesting against the Nehru-Liaquat pact, Hindutva icon Mukherjee resigned from the Nehru' 's cabinet.
