AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Reacting over the incident of a 3 days old baby’s selling in a hilly area in Tripura by own parents, Congress senior leader Gopal Roy has marked the incident as Tripura Govt’s massive failure to control poverty and hunger. Slamming the BJP Govt, Roy said, “I am shocked to see news about the incident in Kalyanpur’s Twihachin ADC village where Mangal Munda and his wife Basanti Munda have sold their 3 days old son at Rs. 1500. Congress had earlier also said, there is no comfort on hills. Congress party demanded a financial help of Rs. 10000 per month to the poor tooâ€.“People have no food, no work ! MGNREGA works are also not given properly. As a result, people are in massive suffering in rural areasâ€, said Gopal Roy. “However, Kalyanpur police rescued the baby and also took action against the family and the buyer. But the couple said, they are unable to arrange food for themselves", Roy said.
"How would they feed their baby ? That’s why they had to do it”, added Roy.
“I condemn Govt’s silence over public poverty. Over 4000 crores were sanctioned from centre’s 20 lakh crore projects but Tripura people have not received anything. Thus, I demand help for the poor from Tripura Govt”, Gopal Roy told media.
