AGARTALA, July 3 (TIWN): Shantirbazar's Baikhora area's local people who are in containment zone, are not allegedly getting any food for last 8 days. Out of starvation they blocked road on Friday as a part of protest.
Reportedly, Baikhora's Kusharghat area is included under containment zone few days ago after getting Covid positive patient from that area. Thus the district management declared it as containment zone and restricted all the movements in that area. But according to the procedure the management is bound to provide food and other essential items if the movement is restricted by Govt in that area. But the local people claimed that no help has been provided in last eight days and they are starving without food.
Besides, the poor daily workers are not getting any works and they are left with almost no source of earning. Thus life of Kusharghat area's people became miserable. On Friday, the local people of Baikhora's Kusharghat area staged protest and blocked road demanding for least essential items to survive.
Later Shantirbazar's SDM and police personnels visited the place. They talked with the local people and convinced that food will be provided to them and thus they controlled the situation. This incident raising questions on the role of subdivisional administration.
