AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): Even though Transport Dept Minister along officials were seen in a review meeting on Monday, but on the practical ground the roadways conditions are deteriorating day by day. Pathetic condition of National Highway (NH-8) was reported in Kumarghat-Pecharthal route, causing massive suffering to the common men. Reports say that the present condition of NH-8 (earlier NH-44) from North Pabiacherra of Kumarghat to Pecharthal which is the life line of Tripura is now in miserable condition and due to few splashes of rains the situation is more worsened. However, roadways pathetic condition remained a big worry under all Govt’s time in the Northeast tiny state Tripura, although after assuming in power, Tripura Law Minister Ratanlal Nath increased VAT on fuel, promising, the revenue to be used for smoothening of roads.
But, in various parts of the state, the roads conditions remain as miserable as before. Not only in North, Unakoti but even in West District also including capital city Agartala’s bypass roads are suffering for lack of maintenance.
Assam-Agartala National Highway is also left in deplorable situation as the road has turned risky after thieves looted the bricks from the road. Anytime the connectivity by the National Highway (NH-8) may stop due to this criminal activity. Lack of police observations are causing such unwanted problems for the travellers and also the State Govt. In the upcoming monsoon, the situation may be worsened due to the pathetic roadways conditions. Various national highways are already left in miserable condition due to lack of maintenance.
