AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): The livelihood of agricultural and livestock farmers are facing severe challenges due to prolonged lockdown caused by COVID-19. People are confined at home searching for alternative livelihoods. In the meantime, cattle at Gomati District are affected severely by Lumpy Skin Disease caused by a virus. To address this situation, Reliance Foundation collaborated with the Animal Resource Development Department, Govt. of Tripura and Bagma Agri Producer Company Ltd (FPO) organized two-day duration livestock camps at Bagbasa and Koriyamura villages under Tepania block of Gomati District.
Dr. Suraj Das and Dr. Tapas Kanti Pal (Veterinary Officer, Dept. of ARD, Govt. of Tripura), Mr. Khokan Das (DDM, NABARD) and Mr. Sudip Majumdar (Chairman, Bagma Agri Producer Company) remained present in the camps.
The farmers from the locality participated with their cattle in the camps and necessary medicines were provided with further advisories.
Mr. Debayan Das (Team Member, Reliance Foundation) said to the correspondent that Reliance Foundation will organize such livestock development camp across State Tripura for livelihood promotion of farmers.
