AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): A massive wave of protest has been staged by Central Trade Union and Fedaration and All Farmers Union jointly at Assam-Agartala national Highway on Wednesday against the corporate friendly Labour law changes.
The agitators claimed that the changes are unjustified, while essential steps to provide security to migrant workers have not been taken.
The agitators have demanded that the Modi government ensure that the workers who are stranded reach their homes, and are provided adequate cooked food, ensure wages to all for entire lockdown period and cash transfer of Rs 7,500 to non-income tax paying households. They also demanded for doubling the amount of ration for ADC area.
The also staged protest against the extention of work hours from 8 hours to 12 hours.
The labour law changes brought by Central Government has been massively criticized nationwide. However, the Government spokespersons and academics are talking of Covid-19 being the 'right-time' for introducing changes as Covid-19 dynamic disables mobilisation and protests on the streets and at the work-sites.
