AGARTALA, May 24 (TIWN): Local people of Kanchanpur have staged protest against Govt’s move to given land to Mizoram origin Brus, who were listed as Tripura citizens under State, Centre and Mizoram Govt’s joint agreement.

In various Districts recently, places were identified for the Brus, who are also known as Reang. The community was residing in Kanchanpur for last 2 decades after a violent incident at Mizoram.

But huge numbers of people staged a massive protest, blocking road at the Kanchanpur.

Then,  Santala to manu, Chailengta route was fully blocked.

In this situation SDM Chandni Chandran rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. The protest was withdrawn after the authority talked to them.
