AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): Stressing on the expansion and development of the primary sectors of the economy, Tripura CM Biplab Deb said that lakhs of people in Tripura can benefit from fisheries and animal resources sectors.
"For the development of fisheries and people associated with the sector, the Tripura government has sent for approval a project of Rs 5,000 crore to the central government. As Tripura imports fish from other states as well as Bangladesh, the project will help earn crores of rupees from fisheries," he added.
Deb, who also holds the Health and Home Departments, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government had taken a series of initiatives for infrastructure development, especially in health sector.
"Besides, people of Tripura, Bangladeshi nationals will also benefit from development of health infrastructure in Tripura as the state is surrounded by the neighbouring country from almost all sides. Thousands of Bangladeshis currently visit southern Indian states for medical treatment," the Chief Minister pointed out.
