AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Tripura Congress leader Gopal Roy has hit Narendra Modi led BJP Govt at centre for not releasing any direct package to the poor, neither for any announcement to compensate the deceased families who lost their lives while migrating from one state to another during lockdown. Addressing media on Sunday, Gopal Roy lashed out Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's announcements after PM Modi's package declaration, saying, this loan base package is nothing but a ‘Historical Jumla’ and a ‘Betrayal’ ever done to the people of India. Gopal Roy stated, “Centering the Coronavirus pandemic, along with the whole world, a tensed situation has erupted across India too. In this regard, Prime Minister Modi on 12th May delivered a 34 minutes speech to the nation. He assured about a Rs. 20 lakhs crores of package for India. But, I would say, this is a historical Jumla and cheating. It has nothing inside it. It means simply that through Reserve Bank, Loan base commitments, various schemes already started from February month costing around Rs. 9 lakhs crores. GDP is 4.8%. It means, only Rs. 10.26 lakhs crores now remaining only in the packageâ€.
“But in last so many press conferences, Finance Minister did not talk about what Govt is going to do for the poor. Only few relaxation was given. Like hawkers are getting Rs. 1000, they do not have to show any guarantee for loans but what the hawkers will do right now?”, said Gopal Roy.
