AGARTALA, May 13 (TIWN): Two former teachers among sacked 10,323 teachers were detained by police today from the Police Headquarter area on Wednesday. When media asked, Police said that they detained these two persons as they were suspiciously moving at the Police Headquarter. On the other side, the ex-teachers said that they came to meet the DGP. One of the detained person said, “We just came to meet the DGP. Whether we are arrested or not, we don’t know anything. Police have told us that they will interrogate us for which police have enough reasons”. SDPO Anirban Das has told media that due to their suspicious movement, police arrested them and now police will ask them, why were they moving over the area. On yesterday, the 10323 teachers staged massive protest at the Education Office demanding to meet the Director U K Chakma regarding Supreme Court’s verdict, but as they could not meet him after he denied to meet the former teachers, the teachers came in massive protest.

The teachers said that there was case earlier registered against 10323 teachers association and in this purpose they wanted to meet the DGP and if DGP does not meet them today, they would request the police to give an appointment, but before listening anything, police have arrested them.

Police alleged, these former teachers were violating laws but how the teachers were violating rules when they were only 2 in numbers, it could not be known. 

The former teachers came to meet DGP as there was a case lodged against Bimal Saha, their leader and few others after the former teachers staged protests
