KAMALPUR, Nov 16 (TIWN): Kamalpur police grabbed a great success by netting the rape-accussed after long 18 years from Nishanpara, Agartala yesterday, under College outpost last night. Police transported the accused from Agartala to Kamalpur. Today police produced the accused before the SDJM and was sent to 1 day’s Jail Custody.

According to the police file, way back on 04/09/1996 a girl of 12 years of age was kidnapped and raped by some Liton Shil s/o- Sadhan Shil of Kalachari No. 2 and Anup Das of Kalachari No. 1. Next day the parents of the victim girl filed a case ( No. 61/96) under 366 A and 376(2)(G). Accordingly police netted Anup Das and he suffered imprisonment and compensation. But Liton somehow escaped and was absconding for long long 18 years. At last, acting on a tip off, yesterday, the ASI of Kamalpur Police Station netted  Liton from Nishanpara under Collegetilla Outpost. It has been revealed that, he got married in his absconding life and was rented in a house at Jagaharimura near Hindi School. He had two spouses. Today, police produced Liton before the court of SDJM and he was sent to 1 day’s Jail Custody.
