AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): Tripura Govt in an order under ‘Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales’ has banned tobacco, gutka like items’ selling in the State.
In a press release on April 29, 2020, by ICAT Dept it has been directed, “Foods having tobacco and nicotine inside, are banned. Food Safety and Standard authority of India has prohibited these sales. In views of public health, Govt decided to prohibit Gutka, Paan Masala like items’ production, storing, distribution and sales totally”.
“The Food safety and Standard (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales), regulation 2011 has increased the prohibition for a year from April 30, 2020”, said the notification.
It was announced under Health and Family Welfare Dept’s order.
