Agartala, Nov 15 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation today evicted one illegally occupied shop at Jackson Gate, capital city Agartala. The owner of the shop was identified as Sudhir Karmakar. According to the sources, Sudhir brought the land from one Narayan Biswas with valid documents. But the AMC informed, Sudhir registered the land for shop illegally without taking permission from AMC.
The sources confirmed, a case is under trial in this regard and the next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on Nov 18, this year. Sudhir Karmakar had lodged the case against AMC.
It is to be mentioned here, a construction of drain has been stalled since 3 months as because of the shop. As a result, the AMC today carried out a eviction drive while one illegally occupied shop was evicted at Jackson Gate.
During the raid, the shop owner Sudhir Majumder tried to stop them and demanded for rehabilitation. A source inside AMC alleged that, in total 5 feet land was found illegally captured by the shop owner while rest is illegally registered land. The unfinished work of the drain will be constructed soon, the source added.
Earlier, the AMC had carried multiple eviction drives while several illegally occupied hawkers and retailers were evicted in the capital city- Agartala.
