AGARTALA, April 14 (TIWN): Various temples across Tripura have remained close on Naba Barsho, that is the Bengali New Year, celebrated each year on April month, starting the first day of Bengali calendar Baishakh-1st.
With the beginning of the New Year celebration, traders are witnessed performing Haal Khata puja for the fresh starting of their business.
However this year due to COVID19 outbreak, social distances were maintained from markets to localities. The temples remained close due to Lockdown and the Pandits were seen sitting outside the temple.
People also visit various temples. This tradition has been existent in this part of the world for nearly 430 years among traders and their customers, but in halt at a major celebration level due to ongoing COVID19 Lockdown, which has been extended till 3rd May.
