UDAIPUR, March 17 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has met family members, locals of Andolon Debbarma whose wife allegedly committed suicide by hanging self out of poverty after poisoning own children and police arrested the husband in suspect of murder, although locals said it was a suicide because the family was undergoing extreme poverty.
After meeting the family, Manik Sarkar told media, according to the information given by family, there were arguments between husband and wife over school fees of their children which is very normal issue in a family and after that this incident took place.
He suggested the Govt further to focus more on economy, instead of talking much.
"Govt must give more works to people, so that rural areas people have money or it is affecting the families internal peace also", said Manik Sarkar.
Top party leaders including former Ministers as Tapan Chakraborty, Badal Chowdhury, Sahid Chowdhury, Sudhan Das remained present.
The incident took place in Samukchara village under Kakrabon PS. Lots of financial stresses were going on including fees of the children’s school. Thus, out of depression, the mother has reportedly taken the step. Police however has detained the husband, taken for interrogation.This is not the first case of poverty related death but earlier also similar incident happened.At least 11 deaths have been reported in the state last year related to food and poverty including 6 Brus died in starvation in the Kanchanpur.
Jamuna Debbarma committed suicide after poisoning own children in Udaipur’s Samukchara whose family was suffering from extreme poverty and unable to bear the expenses of their children’s education. As the incident has generated controversy, BJP Govt is trying its best to prove that no poverty existing in any family in state as this is not the first case where a family died out of starvation.
