Court quashed FIR against CPI-M leaders for holding unpermitted rally

AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): BJP Govt’s new technique of filing FIR after not giving permission to opposition rallies received a jolt again after a court here scrapped such an FIR filed against CPI-M leaders in the South Tripura District.
Reportedly, on 15 and 19 October, 2019 CPI-M held two rallies which were unpermitted by Police out of political pressure. The rallies were called demanding withdrawal of the politically motivated case against former Minister Badal Chowdhury in PWD case.
But for holding unpermitted rallies, FIR was lodged against 19 CPI-M leaders, activists there.
South Tripura District CJM Sunil Singh on yesterday has scrapped the FIR.
