AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Feb 28 (TIWN): After 8 days of journalist attack incident when one Nabarun Deb, S/O-Narayan Deb attacked journalists physically was arrested. But along with Nabarun there were more accused persons and so far no arrest of any of them. In reply to media queries why police could not arrest Nabarun for 7 days, West Agartala PS OC Subrata Chakraborty said Nabarun Deb was absconding and thus could not be arrested till now but on yesterday night he was spotted in his home and was arrested. Subrata Chakraborty also said that police earlier raised his home but could not catch him. The complaint was registered after the injured journalist Banti Das filed the complaint. His camera was broken and around 3 media persons were physically attacked.
The incident took place at Jagat Bazar when journalists, photographers rushed there to cover the incident on 20th February.
After 8 days although only one person was arrested, but police seemed reluctant. 3 days police custody was sought in court and the charges brought against him is under 382 IPC under case number : 35/2020
