AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): Employee unions of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) are staging agitations across the country against the government’s decision to divest part of its stake in the country’s largest life insurer.
While agitating the employees said that this decision is suicidal and anyway, this has to be stopped.
“We have to bound the central govt to stop from selling of LIC. We call people to join protest with us”, said LIC employees, agents.
On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced during the Union Budget that the government will be going for a partial stake sale in LIC through an initial public offer in the next financial year.
While this decision was met with mixed reactions, three employee unions have decided to stage an agitation against the partial divestment.
