AGARTALA, Jan 27 (TIWN): HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (E) as part of indigenous outreach programme and extension of fit India movement organised an Volleyball Tournament for teams of the Teliamura Sub Division, Tripura. Seven teams participated in the event, which lasted for three days. The finals were contested on the Republic Day.
The event was aimed at promoting a healthy competitive and team spirit amongst the local youth and stressing upon the importance of mental and physical fitness.
The finals of tournament was played between Assam Rifles and team from Teliamura. Assam Rifles won the closely contested match by 3 sets to 2. Approx 300 persons witnessed the finals. There were more than 700 spectators spread over three days of the tournament.
The gesture of promoting goodwill by providing a platform for youth through sports, was appreciated by all.
