AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): After Anti-Mughal speeches on the occasion of Netaji Jayanti, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb was suggested by public in social media to learn Indian history from history books to learn basic histories of India.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Netaji Jayanti claimed that Mughals ruled in India for 600 years and attempted to destroy the Indian culture.
The Chief Minister was basically bashing the Mughals saying, Mughals were never India’s unifier or glory. In reality, the foundation of the empire was laid in 1526 by ẒahÄ«r al-DÄ«n Muḥammad Babur and ended in 1857 in fight against British. Thus hardly 331 was the regime of Mughals and though it middle there were gaps.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb also insulted Mughals in his speech on Netaji Jayanti although it was Netaji Subash Chandra Bose who visited the tomb of Bahadur Shah Zafar in Rangoon in his "Delhi Chalo" pledge.
On the contrary, it was Netaji's wish that Mughal last king's grave soil should be taken to Red Fort after independence.
Bahadur Shah Zafar was defeated by the British on 11th September 1857. He was later exiled to Rangoon in Myanmar after the war. This brought an end to the Mughal Rule in India which prevailed for 331 long years.
