AGARTALA, Jan 15 (TIWN): Makar Sankranti is celebrated al over the state with rituals and delicious cakes. It marks the begining of the movement of the sun towards the northern hemisphere. In addition to it, it also marks the begining of the harvest season.
The festival is celebrated by different communities,where everyone follows different kind of rituals. Braving the unprecedented chill this season, festivities are held with enjoyments in houses.
Youths gather together at the roop tops or terrace and parties hard with bon- fire and non- veg delicacies. Its like a family picnic where everyone gathers to celebrate the eve.
Makar Sankranti fair inaugurated by Tripura CM at Tirthamukh area of the state, where additional vehicle facilities have been arranged for smooth movement of the people to attend the fair. NDRF Personnel also have been deployed.
Businessman participated with exclusive handloom and handicraft, terracotta, jute and bamboo products along with wall hangings and several attractive items.
Food courts have been arranged for food lovers, with display of traditional food items.
