AGARTALA, November 5 (TIWN): State Government on Wednesday on its Cabinet meeting decided to recruit at least 39 drivers for the State Fire Service Department Driver Posts. Beside on the cabinet meeting held at the secretariat, Rs. 3 lakhs and 85 thousand have been sanctioned for the total of 1 lakh and 61 thousand BPL Card Holders.
The state govt. on Wednesday on its cabinet meeting resolved to postpone the Food Security Act till the digitalisation of the ration cards is ensured. While speaking to the media persons on Wednesday after the cabinet meeting State food Minister Bhanulal Saha said that the govt. is now working for the digitalisation of the ration cards and work is in progress now. And till it is ensured the Food Security Act cannot be implemented at the state.
Earlier the Tripura Govt. announcing its plan said to introduce the Food Security Act from October 1, 2014. The State Govt. had earlier said that it could not be implemented because of the inadequate quantity of grains earmarked for Tripura under the Central Govt.’s Food Security scheme. Though the Tripura Govt. had raised objections against some provisions of the food security scheme.
As per the Tripura Food Security Act, at least 74.75 percent of the rural people and 49.54 percent of urban people in the state would be covered by the scheme.
However, few states like Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Mizoram and Delhi have introduced the Act already.
