AGARTALA, Dec 28 (TIWN):In Manmohon Singh’s era Tripura used to get Rs. 1400 crores for MGNREGA mandays and now it is Rs. 400 crores . However, even though fund hike was announced by Modi Govt for Tripura recently but with Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarman returned with only 13 awards and boosted RD dept functioned better than earlier amid various suicides of people and rapid decline of economy.When under former PM Manmohon Singh’s time due to Planning Commission 90% funding was given by Centre, Modi Govt promised to ensure 100% funding but in reality Modi Govt has not given Tripura not even few percentage whereas the Northeast states are supposed to get total Central Funding may be for another next hundred years for the sake of Northeast development. However, after returning from Delhi, blaming the previous CPI-M Govt, Finance Minister, cum Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarman said that instead of blaming the Central Govt, the State Govt should try to stand on its feet and that’s why BJP led State Govt have increased taxes.

When state has witnessed 7 suicides, unnatural deaths in last 1 month, statewide public alleging how MGNREGA works, mandays have been dropped, Tripura RD Dept has received 11 awards for RD whereas MGNREGA is under massive corruption allegation whereas BJP Mandal leaders are enjoys mandays wages without works and even a Govt employee’s name was seen in MGNREGA.

However, Jishnu Debbarman was in Delhi for last few days and Law Minister Ratanlal Nath said that as soon as Jishnu Debbarman will return teachers including pensioners will hear a good news. However, MGNREGA mandays could be even 100 days but what Jishnu Debbarman brought was 13 awards.

Addressing media, Jishnu Debbarman said that earlier MGNREGA was used as a political too but we want it as a tool of development.

“We have decided that in 8 Districts 8 big works will be adapted. It will help us to create asset”.

Analysis says, rural development remained as one of the paralyzed dept in Tripura, failed to help poor men and poor people’s voice remained unheard by the Govt.
