Agartala, 23rd August (TIWN) It’s not only onion. Prices are in sour for vegetables also.
Pockets are burning high for common mass. Retail market is selling any vegetable between Rs. 40 to Rs. 80 per kg. Poor people, have no option but to cut short their shopping list. Monthly budgets are going beyond boundaries. Onion price is continuously hovering around Rs. 60 to 80 per kg in the local markets.
Fish is also out of plate for many. It has jumped to to Rs. 200 to 400 per kg. Where as, branded fish items like hilsa, padma etc. are almost double the rate mentioned. Hike of rates in vegetables and fish is a real threat for people, in the city. The district administration would take ‘step’ on this very point, said a high official of the district administration.
