AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): The onion is fast moving out of the kitchen in past couple of months.
The price of onion in the city vegetable markets has shot up to Rs 90 to Rs 100 per kg, the highest in the season.
A retailer in the city told media that the prices have jumped probably due to shortage of stock. “There is no rule for selling the price in retail. The retailers may charge anything from Rs 90 to Rs 100,” a customer added, whereas another customer supported the sellers saying, “What is their fault if import is at loss. Many shop-keepers are buying items in debts. Not only onion, each and every commodity price at hike. If Govt can’t monitor the market and more other issues which are leading market prices, no relief for the customers”.
