AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): On the season of Durga puja, illegal liquor sales, smuggling have increased to raise the stocks of backdoor business, which was instructed by the Home Dept to put under strict restriction by regular raids and busting of such illegal networks. In Such a successful drive, West Agaratala Police have arrested 6 persons red-handed in illegal liquor business. Addressing media, West Agartala Police Station OC-Debaprasad Roy said, “We are doing preventive arrests along with seizing illegal liquor sales. Whoever is roaming on the road by consuming alcohol, disturbing public, police are strict against them too. Indeed everyday such raids are going on. Also gamblers, numberless bike roamers are also brought under actionâ€.
“Today various spots under west Tripura were raided and 6 liquor businessmen have been arrested who are functioning illegal liquor selling business”, the police officer said.
“Various types of liquors including Bangla (kind of local liquor), then Foreign liquor, Beer etc were seized”, said the cop.
“900 litres of liqrous were seized in total worthing over Rs. 1 lakhs. Battala, Surya Chwomuhani areas were raided in this drive. In coming also similar raids to be continued”, said Roy.
