KAMALPUR, Oct 28, (TIWN) : Prolonged delay in the construction of Town Hall at Kamalpur has virtually irritated the Urban Development Minister Manik Dey. He instructed the NBCC authority to complete it as early as possible. The GM of NBCC, Mr. Anil Malla promised Minister to hand over the completed Town Hall to the Nagar Panchayat authority within 15th December next. But, the concerning people are very much in dilemma about the promise of GM here.
Yesterday, after inaugurating the TSECL subdivision at Durgachowmuhani, Kamalpur, Manik visited the under-construction Town Hall. The construction of this 1100 seated two-storied centrally air-conditioned Town Hall under the funding from JNNURM project was started way back in 2010. It was stipulated to be ended within December, 2012. But till now the work is not completed. Manik wanted to know the cause of so-much delay in the completion of work and the GM excused with the changes in the model, cease at work for quite a long period etc. Then the Minister ordered the GM to complete the work as early as possible. The GM assured to do the same within 15th December. However, a source claimed that, on the occasion of the visit of the Minister the sub-contractor of NBCC, the BGM Consortium appointed much more laborers than usual to show their effort. Now, if it would be ended within December, 15 is the matter to watch.
