KAMALPUR, October 26 (TIWN): Lots of plans, projects and schemes are undertaken every year in the regime of so-called Mr. Clean to provide safe and pure drinking water to the citizens at every nook and corner.
But every year, the cry and scarcity of drinking water has become a regular phenomenon in the state as the projects and works of DWS collapse in the beginning of dry season. This year too, the cry for drinking water has already started to be voiced from different tribal dominated remote parts of this subdivision. And the authority of DWS is still in dark about the scenario, at just the beginning of dry season.
The local people of remote Ashapurna Roaja Para Village Council, Mendi Village Council, Bharat Chowdhury Para of this subdivision are facing acute crisis of drinking water. The local people alleged that, every year the DWS department implements different works like setting up of Tube wells, Ring wells and others. In some parts the pipe line has also been extended with water points. But during the dry season, none of those comes to effect. They have to drink impure waters from local ponds or rivulets. Sometime when the media creates much hue and cry, then the department provides drinking water by tankers and this too has no regularity, nor any guarantee. When asked, the local authority said that, they are yet not informed about it and would see the matter in due course. However, the local people are planning to knock the District Administration directly, in the issue.
