Ambassa, Oct 22 (TIWN): Acting on tip-off, police of Ambassa police station led by Officer-in-Charge (OC)- Swapan Dasgupta Wednesday recovered 1275 bottles of phensidyl worth Rs 1.25 lakh from a lorry of Nagaland coming from Guwahati at National Highway of Jawharnagar area.
According to the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Ambassa- Chiranjib Chakraborty, based on secret information police of Ambassa police station led by OC conducted a search in a lorry bearing number NL-01K- 1955 around 9 am, this morning. During the search, police recovered five sacks consisting over 1275 bottles of phensidyl from the lorry.
Showing thumb to the police, the driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot. However police seized the vehicle. A specific case has been registered in this regard at the Ambassa police station.
It is to be mentioned here; various contraband items including phensidyl, corex, foreigh liquor and country made liquor worth Rs 20 lakh under the Ambassa police station led by OC Swapan Dasgupta.
