AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): CPI-M has staged massive protest here in Agartala to protect Forest Act 2006. A mass gathering was organized followed by a massive protest.
Addressing media, former MP, Ganamukti Parishad President Jitendra Chaudhury said, before 13 years, this act was constituted and under it time to time janajati people used to get pattas but since Modi Govt assumed power, not a single patta was given, rather a case was filed to grab those lands lived by indigenous people for decades after decades. It will deshelter over 30 lakhs people across the country.
“This protest is being conducted across the country aimed to preserve the lands of indigenous people”, said Jitendra Chaudhury.
A massive rally comprised of all communities people have stood together in favour of the act’s preservation.
