AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has spot visited various corners of Agartala city on Monday.
CM lost his cool seeing garbage thrown across the city, blamed Councilors for high negligence in duties.
While addressing media, Biplab Deb said that it’s rule that by 10.30 am all garbage will be cleaned out but nothing has been done since the morning.
“Elected councilors are not working, it’s visible. I have ordered to complete the works by 12 noon. Next time, if negligence is found, I am going to suspend them and if after suspension, they go for strike, I will put them in jail. They are here to work for the people”, said Deb.
“It will take 2 years at least to convert Agartala into a smart-city, but it doesn’t mean that for 2 years people of Agartala will be bearing dirts across”, Deb added.
Biplab Deb also mentioned, if any problem the councilors face during works, they are allowed to communicate with the higher authorities, but works has to be done.
CM pointed that the drains are the major causes of water-logging and unhygienic conditions of the city. Even after his instructions, drains were not cleaned.
