KAMALPUR, Oct. 20, (TIWN) : Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has turned into a great hub of corrupt officials and unscrouplous contractors for a long time here at Kamalpur. And recent Audit has brough to light some of those irregularities, gobbling of funds in the name of fake works and bills. The situation is so worsened that the CMD had to summon all the officials i.e. the DGM Satyanarayan Debbarma, Senior Manager Rajkumar Debbarma and Manager Swapan Shilsharma to discuss the matters today.
According to sources, during recent some years, the officials have become busy in money-making by fake works and bills. Almost every year two or three times heavy winds, Gail ( the TSECL terminology of Cyclone) strike Kamalpur and adjacent areas causing heavy damage to the Electrical assets of the Corporation. And lakhs of rupees is spent every time for fake maintenance and renovation. Actually no such cyclone hit Kamalpur in last one decade or more. But fake cyclone damage bills were made and money was looted by officials.
Furthermore, the brand new laptops often found to be out of order and remained same even after several maintenances. So, money for new laptops are released by TSECL and the whole amount is gobbled as actually no damage to laptops occur ever. During their search on Saturday last, the Audit team found many such irregularities including mismanagement in ‘Cheque Issue Register’, ‘Cash Book’, and in the cases of ‘Temporary Advance’ and ‘Permanent Advance’. After getting the Audit report, the CMD of TSECL became so much worried that he immediately summoned all the officials of Kamalpur.
A source of TSECL head office informed in the condition of anonymity that a large amount of fund embezzlement is to be brought out in open regarding Kamalpur, if the matter is taken up seriously by the higher-up officials. Now what steps are taken by the authority is the matter to be seen.
