AGARTALA, October 20 (TIWN): Residents in Agartala rush to the gold outlets to book orders ahead of the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Jewellers also lure customers with attractive offers during the festive season.
While speaking to TIWN Amit Roy, a jewellery shop owner, said that people are buying gold jewellery because it is believed to bring prosperity.
"Dhanteras, the name itself carries 'Dhan' (money) and 'teras' means it is an auspicious day when people can buy jewellery. Basically, it is from northern India, but nowadays from all over India people are buying jewellery on the Dhanteras auspicious occasion," said Das.
Customers were complaining about the increase in the price of gold and say that it is difficult for them to purchase jewellery without saving up in advance.
"Honestly, the price will be affecting everybody's budget but I have saved myself enough money to buy myself one set, so I am happy," said Priya, a customer.
