Agartala, Oct 16 (TIWN): A BSF Border Out Post (BOP) was gheraoed by the local residents after a BSF jawan was found to have molested a girl at Old Gangadhar Choudhury Para under Sidhai police station in the Mohanpur sub-division in Tripura, last evening.
According to the locals, a BSF jawan Pabitra Kumar Sahu was tried to molest a young girl of the locality yesterday afternoon. But facing the public wrath, the jawan fled away immediately.
Later, the residents of the said area gheraoed Border Security Force (BSF) camp seeking stern action against the culprit. However, the gherao was lifted later in the evening after BSF authorities assured to have taken action on the erring personnel.
According to the BSF source inside BSF, the post commander sub-inspector RD Mishra and constable Pabitra Kumar Sahu were suspended from duty with immediate effect, last evening. The former was placed under ‘close arrest’ while Sahu is reported to be still absconding. An official of Sedhai police station said an FIR was lodged following the incident, last evening.
