Agartala, May 9 (TIWN): Rabindranath Tagore is the symbol of humanity, says VC of Tripura University on Rabindra Jayanti.

Rabindranath Tagore is the best symbol of humanity, his contribution in literature is more and he has written national anthem of two countries India and Bangladesh, said Prof. V.L Dharurkar, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, A Central University.
Vice Chancellor Prof. V.L Dharurkar along with other dignitaries Prof. Chandrika Basu Majumder, Dean of Arts and Commerce, Indraneel Bhowmik, Dean of Student Welfare and others were giving tribute to the Tagore at Tripura University campus on the occasion of the celebration of Tagore’s 158th birth anniversary.
Tagore study centre to be opened here at Tripura University in the next year, all the books and material in order to start the Tagore study centre to be collected by the librarian of the university as early as possible, said Prof. V.L Dharurkar in the programme.
There was a close relation between Tagore and the princely state of when the King was in a state of shock following the untimely death of his queen Bhanumati Debi in the year 1881, he studied young Rabindra Nath's celebrated love-poem 'Bhagna Hriday'. Bir Chandra found a resonance of his anguish in Tagore's elegiac lyric and sent his political secretary Radha Raman Ghosh to Jorasanko near Calcutta to congratulate the poet on behalf king of Tripura.
The Department of Bengali, Tripura University organized a cultural programme where the student from different departments of the university performed their cultural activities in order to tribute to the Tagore.
