AGARTALA, October 14 (TIWN): After eight days slumber, the Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) today resorted to action regarding the Chandrapur brutal incident which occurred on October 5 last. Chairman of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy today met the victim of Chandrapur brutal incident, Soma Majumder (Debnath) at TCW office in Melarmath, here this afternoon.
On being asked about the reason behind the delay of TCW’s action regarding the Chandrapur brutal incident, chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy said that they have provided all possible help to Soma Majumder (Debnath). They will also help her in the coming days. The rate of crime against women is increasing rapidly in the state. It a matter of concern for all. Every people of the state need to come forward to stand against the crimes.
She further said that the Tripura Commission for Women demands to the state government and to the police department to arrest all the accused persons regarding the Chandrapur brutal incident.
It is to be mention here that, on October 5 few persons including women assaulted Soma Majumder by tying her with a pillar in presence of the Gram Panchayat Pradhan when she appeared for to attend a reconciliation meeting.
It is to be mentioned here, all the 18 FIR named persons have surrendered before the court on October 7. Another example of how women are hapless in lawless Golden Tripura.
