AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Congress has welcomed the decision of Election Commission of India for deferring East Tripura constituency poll.
Addressing media, Congress State President Pradyot Manikya said that increase in the security personnel will ensure public safety.
He said, Congress is happy that after viewing evidences submitted by Congress, the Commission has taken this decision.
Congress West Tripura MP candidate Subal Bhowmik said, on 11th April around a lakh of people could not cast their votes. It never happened across India’s history since independence that such a massive number of voters could not cast votes and only 1 or 2 people gave votes on them by force. Bhowmik demanded, re-polling in rigged centres at the earliest in West Tripura.
Congress leader Advocate Pijush Biswas however mentioned, party is not happy with the CEO who earlier claimed about peaceful election and now accepted that election was rigged.
