TELIAMURA (Tripura), April 10 (TIWN): In a shocking display of BJP terror in front of police and security personnel, CPI-M sitting MP, East Tripura MP candidate Jitendra Chaudhury was not allowed by BJP hooligans to hold campaigning ahead of Lok Sabha Election at Teliamura's Marachara. Asking the SDM, it has been confirmed that the programme at 10 am was reserved for CPI-M campaigning, whereas BJP’s time was scheduled later, but breaking all protocols and model code of conduct, BJP activists stopped CPI-M to hold a rally whereas police did not take any action led Jitendra Chaudhury to leave the place to avoid any untoward incident. Being asked by media, MP Jitendra Chaudhury said, “I have just talked to SDM and he has confirmed that it is our time. It is the proof that BJP does not consider model-code-of-conduct and trying to impose one-party-ruling".
"They don’t care about constitution and not ready to accept that other parties have also constitutional right and that is called BJP”.
“We are seeing the naked democracy of Tripura. CPI-M was holding the rally after getting permission from the administration. It shows the BJP how much is terrified. A candidate has come for campaigning and the candidate is still an MP. But we don’t want any peace-disruption should happen and local people's suffering. Condemning this incident, we are cancelling our programme”, said the MP.
“How in front of so many police officers such incident can take place, it proves Biplab Deb is the butcher of Tripura’s democracy. Narendra Modi is destroying the democracy across India and his disciple Biplab Deb is destroying the democracy in Tripura. Today Marachara has remained as the witness of Biplab Deb’s lawlessness era. An elected MP could not hold rally in front of Biplab Deb’s police”, Jitendra Chaudhury said.
Jitendra Choudhury is a member of the Communist Party of India and has won the Indian general elections, 2014 from the Tripura East and also was re-nominated as MP candidate for 2019 Lok Sabha Election. At the 22nd Communist Party Congress in 2018, he was elected as a member of the central committee. He is current president of Gana Mukti Parishad.
