AGARTALA, Oct 11 (TIWN): Chief Engineer(constructions) Harpal Singh and team of North East Frontier Railway officials met Chief Secretary Kameshwar Rao and discussed about the progress of two railway extensions from Agartala to Udaipur and Udaipur to Sabroom .The underway work progress gained momentum after Puja. Moreover around 3000 workers are also engaged in Broad Gauge Conversion work.The Biggest Tunnel No-10 will be covered with BG line facility along with other tunnels in this sector.

The BG conversion work from Lumding to Silchar is scheduled to complete by March 2015.On being asked about introduction of more trains in between Agartala to Karimganj he said “ there is no persistent demand for induction of more trains on the route by passengers , of course the state government has been demanding it for better communication in this shutdown time”.
