AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): Amid Citizenship Amendment Bill agitation against Modi Govt, BJP’s over confidence, sudden gaining support from the regional parties have erupted resentment among regional party supporters and also irked questions on the truthfulness of regional party leaders of the Northeast. In case of Tripura, BJP announcing its ally ‘IPFT’s demand is reasonable’ adding that BJP will not share seat even with IPFT. In much arrogant tone, BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar declared on Wednesday that BJP is not going to share any seat with IPFT, rather hopefully IPFT will “compromise”..“It is their valid demand of IPFT, but BJP is not going to give any seat to them. We are confident that the alliance will be continued…… Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) which had separated from BJP at Assam, now has again aligned with BJP. In the same way, IPFT will also stay with BJP..”, said Deodhar. However, immediately after the restoration of the alliance, AGP leaders have started quitting.A rift has emerged within the Asom Gana Parishad on Wednesday after the party announced its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party in Assam, reports said.

On Tuesday, the two former allies announced that they will reunite for the Lok Sabha elections.

The Asom Gana Parishad had quit its alliance with the BJP in January due to its opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. While three ministers – Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Phanibhushan Choudhury– resumed their charges on Wednesday, two others tendered their resignations and some leaders spoke against the alliance. Bora, Mahanta and Choudhury had resigned from the state Cabinet in January over the Citizenship Bill. AGP leaders Lachit Bardoloi and Hemen Borah submitted their resignations.

“Thank you opportunistic AGP leaders, you have unmasked your and party’s fake regional character,” Bardoloi said.
