AGARTALA, October 10(TIWN): A programme was organized to observe the ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ at District Magistrate office premises here today.
While speaking in the programme District Magistrate Abhishek Singh said that the national sanitation campaign called ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ is being observed all over the country from September 25 to October 23at every level. The aim of this mission is to make more and more people aware about the importance of safe sanitation and cleanliness through various programme at state, District, Block, GP/VC level and to involve them in this mission. In our state, the state level programme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in a programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on September 25.
Government of India has approved restructuring of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA), which has been replaced by a new programme called ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ (SBM). The ‘Swacch Bharat Mission' (clean India) was launched on October 2, with Mahatma Gandhi as the inspiration, to create a clean India of his dreams by 2019, his 150th birth anniversary, he mentioned.
In this programme special emphasis is being given to motivate and involve people at large for cleanliness and behavioral change by keeping their houses and surrounding clean and for using toilets.
