AGARTALA, March 10 (TIWN): Tripura Health and Family Welfare Dept Director Samarjit Bhowmik on Sunday while addressing in Pulse Polio immunization drive programme, claimed that Bangladesh’s health index is better than India.
Talking about dangers of polio, Bhowmik said that today Polio has become the biggest challenge in for not only Tripura and India but also for the whole world.
“Polio leads paralysis, organ damage. Pakistan, Nigeria and Afganistan are the highest suffering country from polio. But Bangladesh’s condition is better, Infact Bangladesh’s Health Index is better than India, can be compared with China”, he said.
He also added, Bangladesh’s economy is also developing and among the underdeveloped countries, Bangladesh is progressing a lot.
“We observe this Pulse Polio immunization drive two times a year, but what we have to focus is that delivery should be at hospital, not at home. In our state 85% deliveries are happening in hospitals, but 15% are still at home”, he added.
