BELONIA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Fuel shortage, especially of petrol, has been experienced by people in the petrol pumps across south Tripura district since past one week. Majority of the IOC-run petrol pumps in the district are said to be running short of stock.
Above all, a large section of oil tankers had suspended their load fleet during the Puja days. On the other, anticipating further slash down of price of fuel, dealers of the state did not send advance requisition and payment to Indian Oil Corporation, which further deteriorated the situation.
Due to the fuel crisis, fewer numbers of public and private vehicles are plying on the roads making problem for the commuters in the district.
Moreover, black-marketing is still on. One ltr. of petrol is being sold at Rs 200 to Rs 250 across the district.
