Kamalpur, (TIWN) , Oct. 6 (TIWN) : Unprecedented price-rise of commodities turned to be a nightmare for the devotees on the eve of Lakshmi Puja ( the worship of the goddess of wealth, according to Hindu mythology). The Hindus worship devi Lakshmi for wealth, prosperity and effluence. According to the Hindu mythology, tomorrow is the auspicious day for the worship as it is Kojagari ( a Sanskrit term for illuminated full-moon night).
In this day, it is believed that the worship along with the night-awakening would bring lots of wealth and happiness. But in the subdivision, the price-rise has become the greatest concern. The average price of idol accelerated up to 80 to 400 rupees according to size. Any kind of fruit sold at a minimum 200 rupees a kilo. Coconut, the obvious fruit of Hindu worship sold at 50 rupees per piece. Even sugarcane sold at a rate of 20 rupees per unit. In this scenario, the arrival of the Goddess of wealth became the obvious outflow of money here !
